DPIX
Conference and Show
by Rick Smith (May 18, 2001)

The DPIX conferences were held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois. These informative seminars were categorized into four different tracks covering separate portions of the professional digital photography industry. They were:
Digital Capture
Workflow
Photoshop
Business Application
Each seminar was 80 minutes in length and the 24 individual sessions held today ran from 8 AM to 550 PM.
A large amount of information was presented and was of extremely high quality. Some Photoshop sessions had 17 page illustrated handouts. In fact, attendees even applauded after several of these sessions.
I attended most of Robb Kerr's Photoshop track, but also attended Dennis Biela's Quicktime VR seminar. Making a decision of which seminar to attend was a problem because the topics were relevant and the instructors were excellent. The list of the Photoshop seminars I attended were:
Grayscale and Color Correction
Down and Dirty Tricks with Photoshop 6
Optimal System Performance for Photoshop 6
Photoshop 6 masking
Retouching Photos with Photoshop 6
Actions in Photoshop 6
Many time saving techniques for Photoshop 6 were presented during these impressive sessions which made them extremely useful for anyone who uses Photoshop on a regular basis.
