Sony Mavica Camera (MVC-FD88)
The latest model in the Sony Mavica camera line, the MVC-FD88 combines a 1.3 million pixel, 5/18 inch (7.05 mm) CCD into a 8X optical (16X digital) zoom unit capable of producing a 1280x960 image in addition to the 1024x768 and 640x480 resolutions.
The Sony MVC-FD88 shares many features of the Sony MVC-FD83, such as the an MPEG movie mode (which captures up to 60 seconds of motion video and audio), voice memo mode (allows addition of voice narration to still images), precision digital zoom (removes jagged edges in 16x mode), two slow shutter speeds (helps in low light situations, as low a 1/30 second), high speed auto focus, 4X floppy recording/playback and four pre-programmed special effects.
It seems that issues I had with my Sony Mavica MVC-FD7 (resolution, flash, floppy speed) seem to be corrected on this camera. I still wish it had a longer optical zoom lens (10X). (See Mavica MVC-FD7 Review)
(Available in June 1999- Estimated Selling Price $999)
