Interactive Internet
Medio Multimedia, Inc., a leading publisher of interactive multimedia titles and magazines has introduced MedioNet to metropolitan Seattle subscribers. The first phase furnishes their subscribers with Internet access while the second phase will provide a rich, high-quality, CD-ROM based, multimedia experience with seamless integration to the real-time communication capabilities of the Internet. Each month, subscribers receive the Medio Magazine CD-ROM, as well as 40 free hours of Internet access. Final services and pricing will be established when MedioNet is rolled out nationally.

Low cost 3D Graphics
Asymetrix has announced Asymetrix 3D F/X, an OLE 2.0 compatible program that allows business presenters, graphics designers and multimedia developers to easily produce sophisticated 3D animations at the low cost of $99. This revolutionary tool provides real-time, solid-model preview and can produce the sophisticated effects of reflection and bump maps, text warping, true reflections and shadows, 24-bit true color and alpha channel transparency effects. The rendering engine can output single BMP or TGA files, while animations produce AVI video files or sequential BMP files.

New Version of Toolbook
The CBT (Computer Based Training) edition of Asymetrix Toolbook is now shipping. It combines the powerful features of Toolbook 3.0 with specific features for CBT, performance support and other interactive learning applications. Some of these features are Paradox format data tracking, automated assistance with course appearance, structure and behavior along with a complete course shell which includes navigational controls, media staging, feedback fields along with a variety of professionally designed layout templates. Looks like this product will greatly simplify the process of delivering content-rich multimedia content. It has a suggested retail price of $1295 and includes unlimited run-time and application redistribution rights.
