Sony Desktop PCV-L400 / PCV-L600
The newest addition to the VAIO Slimtop LCD Computer series is the PCV-L600S, a 500 MHz Pentium III computer with a 10.8 GB Ultra DMA hard drive, 128 MB PC-100 SDRAM, 24X CD-ROM drive, 4MB ATI Rage LT Pro (2X AGP), V.90 modem, Memory Stick slot and Type II PC Card slot. By using notebook components, the VAIO Slimtop computer is more streamlined than a typical beige mini-tower by being almost 70% smaller than standard desktops, having a small desktop footprint and weighing less than 12 pounds!. Also included is the VAIO Smart convertible keyboard which features a unique ergonomic palm-rest which converts to a keyboard cover, six programmable power keys and mouse/keyboard connection that works for either left or right hand use.

Sony CD-RW drive (CRX100E/X USB) This currently available Spressa CD-RW drive features a USB interface, 4X CD-R recording, 2X CD-RW recording, 6X reading and one megabyte buffer memory. (Currently available - Estimated Selling Price - $399)
Sony CD-RW drive (CRX120E/X iLINK)
This CD-RW drive, one of the first with a hot pluggable iLink (IEEE-1394) interface, combines 4X CD-R recording, 4X CD-RW recording, 24X reading and a TWO megabyte buffer memory. Finally, a CD recordable drive with more than a single megabyte of buffer memory!

Sony VAIO Digital Studio Desktop System (PCV-R522DS) The entry level addition to Sony's latest VAIO Digital Studio desktop PC line is the PCV-R522DS and features a 466 MHz Intel Celeron processor. The key feature of the Digital Studio line is the ability to import and edit clips from Sony Digital Handycam camcorders via the iLink (IEEE-1394) interface and add titles, transitions and soundtracks to create high quality home movies and videos. The Sony PCV-R522DS also includes a 10 GB hard drive, 64 MB SDRAM, 3D 2X AGP graphics (8 MB ATI Rage 128VR), 32X CD-ROM, 2 iLink ports, 2 USB ports, 4 empty bays, 4 empty slots, Aureal 3D sound, VAIO smart keyboard and v.90 internal modem. (Available in June 1999- Estimated Selling Price $1,099 - Several rebates exist. Some require bundling with Sony displays and Canon BJC-2000 color printers.)

The high end addition to Sony's latest VAIO Digital Studio desktop PC line is the PCV-R522DS and features a 500 MHz Intel Pentium III processor. Being Sony's first computer to offer BOTH a CD-RW drive and a DVD-ROM drive, this unit also provides the skilled enthusiast a powerful desktop video editing system. The PCV-R528DS also includes a 13 GB hard drive, 128 MB SDRAM, 3D 2X AGP graphics (8 MB ATI Rage 128GL), CD-RW drive, 6X DVD-ROM, 2 iLink ports, 2 USB ports, 4 empty bays, 4 empty slots, Aureal 3D sound, VAIO smart keyboard and v.90 internal modem
